At its heart lies the letter D, shaped into the head of the nabau—the sacred dragon of Dayak cosmology. Revered as the bridge between humans and the spirit world, the nabau is bound to rivers, lakes, and mighty streams: the lifelines of Dayak communities. Its presence in the logo is a reminder that literacy is not only about reading and writing, but a living current of knowledge that sustains balance, growth, and continuity.

The bold red circle behind it symbolizes the sun and the vital energy that animates life. Red is courage, passion, and the blood that binds generations. Together with the nabau, it becomes a guardian of spirit and resilience. The strong black typography of “UUD DANUM” reflects both tradition and permanence, anchoring literacy within the deep cultural roots of the Dayak people. The word danum, meaning “water” in the local language, deepens this symbolism: literacy, like water, must flow—endlessly, generously, and life-giving—across generations.

Through these elements, the logo delivers a powerful message: literacy is the dragon guarding knowledge. It flows, protects, and empowers the Dayak people of West and Central Kalimantan, especially those of the Melawi highlands near the Schwaner Mountains. Literacy here is not only a tool of modern education but also a form of reverence—for ancestors, rivers, and the universe itself.

The Literasi UUD Danum logo is thus more than a visual mark. It is a living manifesto: that to read and to write is to step into the eternal current of life, carried forward by water and the dragon, ever-present in Dayak imagination and cosmology.
